1 killed, other missing in Kogi communal clash

A renewed communal clash between Igburra Mozum and Bassa Komo ethnic groups in Bassa LGA of Kogi State has claimed one life, with another person declared missing.

The locals reported on Wednesday that one 25-year-old Danlami Ibrahim from Ibiroko was abducted from his farm on Tuesday at Ibiroko-Sheria axis and later killed.

A source disclosed that another person from the same town by the name Yusuf Ohinoyi Yakubu, said to be about 45 years old and father of seven, went missing since he left for his farm in the early hours of Tuesday. But a search party later located him.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Ibiroko was said to have reported the matter to the police in the town and over other such developments in the area.

According to a report, Ibiroko was attacked twice last week, and on Tuesday, the warring groups shifted their battlefield to Sheria where shops and houses were razed down.

The police spokesman in the state, SP Williams Aya, said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, had taken necessary measures to restore normalcy in the area.
