A passenger died while one other sustained injuries after a bus crashed in Abaji, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.
A witness said the incident happened around 3:12 am on Sunday when a J5 Peugeot bus with registration number KST 412 WD loaded with tomatoes on speed summersaults after one of the tyres burst.
He said the bus driver who was conveying the tomatoes to the east suddenly lost control of his steering, forcing the bus to crash into a ditch.
He said officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived at the scene and evacuated the corpse and the injured victim to the hospital in the area.

An official of the FRSC, who said he was permitted to talk to the press, confirmed the incident, in which he attributed the accident to over-speeding and tyre burst.
He said the passenger’s corpse has been deposited at Abaji General Hospital, while the injured victim is also being attended to at the same hospital.
