Some armed men on Saturday night allegedly attacked a farm settlement at Ahun village, Oro Ago, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
A teenage girl, Rukayat, was killed while two other persons sustained bullet wounds in the attack. The condition of those shot could not be ascertained on Sunday before filing this report.
While the motive for the attack was yet to be established, incidents of kidnapping had been on the rise in southern communities of Kwara State recently.
The spokesman of the state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Babawale Afolabi, who confirmed the incident, said security had been beefed up in and around the community.
“The incident occurred around 8 pm on Saturday. The gunmen were many and they shot sporadically during the attack.
“A teenage girl who was hit by a stray bullet was killed while two others that sustained injuries have been taken to hospital,” he said.
He added that investigation was ongoing and the command was working with community leaders on the matter.
