One person was killed and at least 12 persons, including 10 women, abducted when bandits attacked Kerawa Village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the wee hours of Friday.

A youth leader in the community, Jamil Kerawa, confirmed the incident, saying the bandits operated unchallenged.

“They abducted 12 people two male and 10 women after killing one person. One other was injured and rushed to hospital in Zaria. We need help in Kerawa because only God is protecting us,” he said.

He appealed to the state government to deploy security personnel in the area, lamenting the increase in attacks.

Daily Trust Saturday gathered that surrounding villages like Hayin Dam, Rago, Unguwar Salahu and Zariyawa were also displaced by bandits recently.

Although there was no official reaction from the state government, the police spokesman, Mohammed Jalige, promised to comment after getting details.
