SP Ikenga noted that the injured vigilante member was taken to the hospital through police intervention, where he is currently receiving medical attention.

The police spokesman explained that, “Police-led security forces on Sunday, 24th November 2024, at 2:30 pm, swiftly responded to an attack on members of the Anambra State Vigilantes from the Umuchu extraction along the Amesi/Uga Road and rescued one wounded vigilante operative.

“The Joint Security Forces quickly rushed the victim to the hospital, where he is currently responding to treatment, and activated intelligence-led patrols in the area to deny the criminals the space they need to cause havoc and possibly arrest them.

“Unfortunately, during the gun battle, bullets hit the fuel tank of the Toyota Frontier van belonging to the AVG, causing the van to be completely burned.”
