The Kwaran State Police Command has arrested one Abolarin Samuel, a suspected cultist, in connection with the murder of one Anthony Kayode Balogun in front of a hotel in Ilorin.
The police spokesman in the state, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the suspect, also known as Sam Caro, 37, was arrested at his hideout near Conoil Filling Station in the Italamu area of Ilorin.
According to her, a search conducted at the time of his arrest led to the recovery of a locally fabricated gun and three live cartridges.
She said the suspect admitted to being a member of the notorious Eiye secret cult, initiated in 2011 by an individual named Otumba, who remained at large.
She sai, “The killing was reportedly a revenge mission for a 2022 cult anniversary celebration during which the victim allegedly ordered the killing of an Eiye confraternity member named Abbay.”
