One arrested as police trail car snatchers from Anambra to Lagos

Detectives from Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, have trailed suspected car snatchers to their hotel in Ikorodu, and arrested one of them, Ugomsinachi Maxwell.

Another suspect, Udoye Sochukwu Kosi, alias Daddy Seth, reportedly during a shootout with the police team while two others escaped with injuries.

Hauwa Idris Adamu, spokeswoman of the zone, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspects snatched a Toyota Highlander from its owner in Anambra State and were in the Be Happy Hotel in Ikorodu awaiting the arrival of a buyer.

She explained that on September 22, 2023, intelligence gathered by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of Zone 2, Ari Mohammed Ali, had it that a gang of robbers snatched a Toyota Highlander from a victim in Anambra State and moved to Lagos.

She said the AIG then detailed operatives to discreetly investigate and confirm the veracity of the information.

She further said, “Hence the suspected robbers were trailed to Be Happy Hotel, Ita-Maga Ikorodu, Lagos State, where the snatched vehicle was to be disposed of.

“Upon sighting the police, the robbers engaged them in a gun duel in which one Udoye Sochukwu Kosi, a.k.a. Daddy Seth, who sustained a bullet wound was later confirmed dead by a doctor and the remains deposited in the morgue.
