Speaking during the commissioning of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), building named after former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, he said the new minimum wage would take effect from May 1,2024.

Obaseki said his administration increased minimum wage for workers from N40,000 to N70,000.

He said while waiting for the Federal Government to fix the new minimum wage for workers, he was prepared to add to the wage if the federal minimum wage is above N70,000.
