The Kano State High Court, which initially granted an ex-parte order affirming the suspension of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has vacated the order.

The presiding judge, Justice Usman Na’Abba, who gave the April 17 order affirming Ganduje’s suspension, yesterday granted another interim order staying execution of the earlier order.

The judge gave the latest interim injunction following a motion ex parte moved by Ganduje’s counsels, L. O. Oyewo, A. Falana, and J. Essiet.

The order reads, “An order of interim injunction is hereby granted, staying the execution of the order of interim injunction contained in the ruling of this court delivered on April 17, 2024, directing parties to maintain status quo ante as at 15th day of April 2024, in relation to the suspension of the 4th respondent/applicant from the 1st respondent by the Ganduje ward executive committee pending the hearing and determination of the 4th respondent motion on notice.”

The court fixed April 30 for hearing on the motion on notice.

Justice Na’Abba had earlier granted an interim order affirming the suspension of Ganduje by his APC ward executives on Monday, April 15.

Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani Barguma had joined the APC, its national executive committee, the Kano state APC executive committee, and Ganduje in the suit after Gwanjo announced the suspension of Ganduje from the party.

Daily Trust recalled that Ganduje had also secured an interim order on April 18 from a Federal High Court in Kano, stopping his suspension. The National Secretariat of the party, relying on the April 18 order, said Ganduje’s involvement in the running of the affairs of the party would not have any adverse effect on the Ondo State primary election, which was held on Saturday.
