Parents of students in an Abuja community school have requested more social skills for their children to enhance their impact on society.
The parents of students of the Junior Secondary School in Goza, Lugbe, requested this at the closing ceremony of the Project Safe Spaces of the Satayaa Africa Foundation in Abuja recently.
The programme is part of the non-profit organisation’s skills support for schools in rural areas in partnership with the MacArthur Foundation and Centre for Research and Development.
Speaking during the programme, Patrick Odey expressed delight over the entire programme, which lasted over six weeks.

Under the programme, the organisation supports school children with reading and writing skills and trains them on topics such as identity, leadership and responsibility.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, the programme advisor, Ifeanyichukwu Okoli, said the programme has brought out the innate abilities in the kids, adding that it has achieved its objective of giving the young students from 19 communities around Goza a voice.
Speaking on the programme, the Director of the MacArthur Foundation in Nigeria, Dr Kole Shettima, said it was exciting to be part of the community-based project that made a difference in the lives of kids who are not living in Abuja’s highbrow areas.
