2027 will be difficult for PDP if discipline is not enforced – Jandor

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate in the last election in Lagos State, Dr Abdulazeez Adediran, also kmown as Jandor, has said it will be difficult to campaign for the party in 2027 if those that worked against the party in 2023 still remain as leaders.

Apparently referring to the likes of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike who worked against the presidential candidate of the party in the last election, Jandor said Nigerians wil not take PDP seriously if discipline is not enforced.

Speaking as the lead guest at a conference organised by the Victory Advocates of Nigeria (VAN) in Abuja, on Saturday, Jandor said the way the main opposition party is being viewed by those outside the party is very bad and urged stakeholders to work together towards changing the narrative.

“I keep saying that how do you forgive who is not sorry. What is reconciliation without boundary enforcement, it would not work.”

“The party has a constitution and the constitution has provided how the party should be governed and there is no body in the party that should be bigger than the constitution of the party, if we are able to do that then we can change the optics out there. Because the optics out there is very bad and we know. But we can put in the work to make sure that we change that.

“We should find a way to rebrand this party as a result of what we did and refuse to do. I said how difficult it is going to be for you to stand before people especially in my state of Lagos to say okay let us do this again in PDP. Meanwhile you still have some people who openly came out to said, don’t vote for PDP, openly being paraded as leaders of the party. Who will take such a person serious, who will take me serious.

“Politics is local, what applied to Lagos might not be the same in FCT and other places, but you will have to look at it and say how do you come up and say I belong here when you have people who did otherwise and they can’t even say sorry.”

Addressing reporters after the event, Prince Seyi Ajibola, National President of Victory Advocate of Nigeria (VAN), said the time had come for the youths to make their voice held in the affairs of the country, adding that they must be involved in the affairs of PDP as that is the only way to move the party forward.

“We are challenging the PDP leaders to get it right, PDP youths are yearning for good leadership and we want them to be up and doing. We want direction from the leadership of the party and if that is not coming we can demand change for the right thing to be done.

“The August NEC is very crucial and after that meeting we expect the party to take shape. We want the party to work for Youth inclusiveness and if there is no discipline in the party it will Mar our chances in getting victory in 2027.”
